Wednesday passed by Enid and walked up the rest of the flight of stairs, “I’m sure she will.”Įnid watched Wednesday as she gently brushed past her. ”Yeeaah,” Enid smirked, “that’s what I was kinda banking on. ”She is quite laughably inept in floriculture,” Wednesday affirmed, “if it weren’t for Divina, I would say it’s a terrible housewarming gift.” So I got one Yoko probably couldn’t kill by accident.” Wednesday sighed, “I see,” she looked down to the succulent cradled in Enid’s hands, “and what is the purpose of the plant?”Įnid looked down to the succulent and shrugged, “uhm- I couldn’t come up with something better? I just kind of googled what I should give to someone who just moved and the internet told me a plant.

”Cause it’s their new place,” Enid reminded, “and we’re celebrating their move with food and gifts.” Enid smiled sheepishly as Wednesday continued to stare at her unconvinced, “and cause everyone else decided to bring something and I didn’t wanna be the only ones who showed up empty handed.” Wednesday lifted up a plastic bag filled with a few bags of chips and assorted dips, “I did,” she responded as she walked up the steps after Enid, “I still don’t understand why we are providing food if we’re being invited as guests.” She grumbled, much too used to her family with their large extravagant parties and the customs that followed. Wednesday looked up to Enid with her usual deadpan stare, her ever resting glare that at one point intimidated Enid now made her smile. Occasional small trees and well kempt hedge bushes served to give the place a more lively vibe, one Enid quite liked. It was a nice place, a fairly new apartment residential with multiple three story complexes separated by grassy fields and nice pavement walkways. She took a hand away from the potted succulent she had been cradling to double check her pockets, she made sure she hadn’t forgotten her phone, wallet and keys before getting a good look at the building and its surroundings. Vic says that this is the most personal song for him on the album.”Did you bring the snacks, babe?” Enid asked as she made it halfway up to the second floor of the apartment complex’s outdoor stairs. Vic's characteristic poetic stylings, however, manage to show up between verses, as he imaginatively describes the savage emotions provoked by the experience. From start to finish, it simply describes the woman showing up and telling Vic she's having another man's child. The song, despite being rewritten to avoid directly referencing the woman involved, is lyrically straightforward for Vic. The song describes the night that Vic found this out. As the two were finally reconciling and moving toward something that felt permanent, she got pregnant with another man's child and moved away.

This was the case with "One Hundred Sleepless Nights", which is based on Vic's on-again, off-again relationship with a woman over the course of several years. This is partly intentional, as Vic admits that he will censor and rewrite lyrics if they deal too explicitly with a real person. Even though they're drawn from his life, the finished song is often left with an ambiguous, universal feel. Vic Fuentes writes most Pierce the Veil songs by taking raw personal experience and transforming it into poetic, indirect lyrics.
