Some might say that it adds to variety when doing different builds, but IMO, I would prefer if they just made each class feel like it's own.Ģ. Example of that would be Engineer, which I thought that it will play like barb, but instead it feels a bit like barb, a bit like paladin and a bit like some third class. They play like they should, barbarian is a big bulky hard hitting dude with swords and stuff, demon hunter is a agile ranged character that focuses on crowd control with evade and trap skills etc., whilst in Torchlight 2, some classes feel like combination of multiple classes and IMO, they aren't really fleshed out well. In Diablo 3, classes are more well rounded. Since everyone here pretty much told you what's so good about Torchlight 2, I will focus on Diablo 3:ġ. I recommend playing through the vanilla game first, and then looking through the steam workshop to find what suits you most. But they also put puzzles in the dungeons and if you solved the puzzle it would unlock a loot area for extra gold and loot (puzzles are also in the main story dungeons).ġ0) Theres a lot more, but ill end this with one word: MODS!!! This game has a plethora of amazing mods, from new classes, complete overhauls, you name it. As well as fishing, which gives you fish to feed your pet which transforms them into a monster providing bonus's depending on the fish/monster.ĩ) Endgame: After you beat the game you open up the ability to run dungeons to your hearts content for leveling and loot, and these are randomly generated, not repeats of the dungeons you already ran. You can spend your skill point in any combination of active and passive skills which could lead you to any number of playstyles.īut you can also fill these action slots with spells, as both you and your pet can have 3 spells, which are either active or passive. This opens up play as you will probably only have 6 skills (2 mouse and buttons 1-4), but you can have more if you choose. Don't remember what each one does for each class, but it really helps diversify them.ħ) In regards to diversification, each class has VERY unique skill trees, and many two characters of the same class will not play the same.Ĩ) Gameplay: The game play is pretty standard arpg, however you have far more action buttons available to you. For instance, if you find a hammer that requires lvl 10, but also say 25 strength, if you already have enough strength, even at lvl 5 or 6, you can use the item.Ħ) Each class has their own unique ultility/ultimate bar that fills by killing and fighting enemies. Basically your own personal merchant, love this feature.Ģ) It shares the same loot feature as diablo in that when playing multiplayer, each player will get their own loot, so no need to fight.ģ) The game has a quest system somethat similar to diablo, in that npc's will have you do missions in return for xp, money and multiple choices of gear.Ĥ) The game's set pieces are much more common, and i daresay much less advantagous than the high lvl set pieces in diablo 3 (aka the bonuses for a max set are not as drastic most of the time)ĥ) Items you find will either have a level or attribute requirement, and you only need to meet one.

What is most important about him though is the ability for the owner to dump a phat amount of loot into his inventory, and then the pet can go off and sell it all by himself. Horrible loot system, it's apparently better in the console version.I've played both Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 pretty extensively, and there are many things in it that differ from Diablo.ġ) You can have your own pet, kinda similar to a follower in diablo 3, which has it's own skills and gear.
TORCHLIGHT 2 VS DIABLO 3 PATCH
Diablo 3: Starts too easy, it may be better to level up in now than it was when I first played but I go back to it every new patch to see if endgame is interesting enough. Cool endgame, uses the map system with good challenges and better loot.ģ. Torchlight 2: Fun game, interesting mods, passive tree is ok.

The passive tree will make your jaw drop.Ģ. A ffxi like materia system with support gems, and ability gems. Even If i tried to make them similar, the gear they use alone greatly sets them apart from one another. I rerolled a same class character in Titan Quest one time, I have too many multiple classes in PoE and they are so very different. One of my favorite games this gen.ĭ3 was my first time playing Diablo so I had no nostalgia that got crushed with D3, and Titan Quest was my favorite game of this type until this. Oh forgot about ladders, races, pvp, the currency system, etc. Endgame maps crafting is amazing in this game. Path of Exile: Everything is so customizable, it's a joy to try new things, or craft a crazy item that change up your build.
