At this point, I was crying about my skin because nothing was working.
I seeked help in dermatologists, hoping their recommendations would solve my severe cystic acne but they left my skin flaky and often caused allergic reactions. On top of feeling self conscious about my acne, I was also insecure about my makeup skills, or lack of. This caused an internal conflict, because I wasn’t living out my identity. I was never big on using makeup but with acne I had to wear it everyday to feel good enough to go out. Of course you can wear makeup but that’s not a fix all solution.
This makes it hard to be positive because acne is something you can’t really hide. You can be doing everything right, like eating a well balanced diet and exercising but nothing changes. Its tough because it’s hard to know why your acne continues to persist. I was not feeling like myself, and acne was the cherry on top that left me defeated. I wasn’t practicing self-love or self-care as much as I could have.
